There’s a chill in the air – and soon down your spine – as Halloween approaches at the end of the month. Whether you’re a year-round resident, a seasonal renter, or a weekend warrior, October is the perfect month to spend a Cape Cod autumn outside with the whole family.

Fortunately, the area not only has cozy Cape Cod rentals for your vacation but a wide range of Halloween events and activities for adults and children alike. Rent Cape Cod vacation homes and cottages this fall, and you’re guaranteed a family trip to remember.

Here are a few of the biggest and best Halloween and fall events on Cape Cod this year:

PumpkinFest

The annual Sandwich PumpkinFest isn’t your typical fall festival. This event features a particularly delicate pumpkin patch – one made of hand-blown glass from the Sandwich Glass Museum.

Stroll the grounds to see the pumpkins in the patch, each one different than the last. You’ll find all the shapes and sizes of glass pumpkins, ranging in color from pumpkin orange to squash green. This is a great place to invest in a pumpkin that can sit on your doorstep year after year.

For those who are interested in the process, a glassblower will be on-site all day making pumpkins inside the museum. This annual event is a hit among artists and collectors alike. The PumpkinFest takes place on October 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sandwich Glass Museum (129 Main St.).

Halloween Party at The Lure Raw Bar

This spooky party takes place in the town of Mashpee, at The Lure Raw Bar at New Seabury, a luxury golf club and resort. Order food from the grill menu or a drink from the full cash bar.

Expect costume contests, prizes, and live music by local group The Grab Brothers. The event takes place on October 26, 2018, at 236 Shore Dr. Doors open at 5 p.m., and music begins at 7 p.m.

Night of the Living Dead Costume Party

Clever costumes and cold beer – with Halloween around the corner, what more could you ask for? Test out your costume for October 31 at the Night of the Living Dead Costume Party at Cape Cod Beer. The theme is celebrities, so come dressed as your favorite – dead or alive.

Live music by the Zombie Polka Band will be played throughout the evening. Admission is free, there is a cash bar. The pub night takes place at October 26, 2018, from 6 to 9 p.m. The brewery is located at 1336 Phinney’s Lane in Hyannis.

Sandwich Halloween Festival

A little bit spooky and a lot of fun, the Halloween Family Festival turns the Heritage Museum & Gardens in Sandwich into a fun children’s fair the Saturday before Halloween.

Get your groove on at a Halloween dance party hosted by DJ Ooch, or pile in a spooky Model T car for an unforgettable family photo. Kids will love doing loops on the vintage carousel. Halloween crafts will also be available throughout the fair.

The festival takes place on October 27, 2018, from 5 to 9 p.m. The museum is located at 67 Grove St. in the town of Sandwich. The event costs $5 per person (maximum $25 per family), and is free for children two and under.

Trick or Treat

Witches, ghosts, and goblins welcome!

You can have a Halloween season without going to at least one trick-or-treat event on the Cape. This year, the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis will host the candy-deprived children for a fun event of indoor trick-or-treating.

Dress your kid in their Halloween best for this fun, a family-friendly fall event on Cape Cod.
